For the 3rd year in a row Reebok is revising the All-Terrain Super line up with its newest version the Reebok All-Terrain Super OR. While I’m not sure what the OR stands for, this is essentially 3.0 for the Super line up, maybe it means Off Road. Whatever it means this shoe is another greatly improved version from the Reebok All-Terrain Super 2.0. They have theoretically made it more durable while fixing some of the other little issues people had complained about.
*Update 3.16.16 The good folks at Reebok informed us that the “OR” stands for Obstacle Racing.
(I would have gone with “OCR” or simply “Terrain 3.0” )
Reebok All-Terrain Super OR Features
Cordura Skin – What this means is they decided enough people complained about their shoes ripping and decided to change it. You can learn more about Cordura here, I hope they used the most durable kind. Time will tell if this lives up to the billing of more durable.
Speed Lacing – These are the quick pull laces that companies like Salomon often use and that they have used on the Reebok All-Terrain Thunder 2.0. All you have to do is pull the laces through the little auto lock system and they are tightened down. No more cheap thin laces like on the previous versions that would always come undone.
Improved Tongue – Once again they are trying their third attempt at a better tongue. Previously it has slipped around with both types they have tried. This new tongue has 4 elastic sections that connect it to each side of the tongue area so it won’t be able to shift down to one side or the other.
Reebok All-Terrain Super OR Usage
I have run 80 miles with these shoes to date on multiple types of terrain. I enjoy most of my weekly runs on the unfinished Atlanta BeltLine. It has paths that consist of dirt, mud, and gravel. These shoes did fantastic on all of these various surfaces.
In addition, I ran 2 laps of the 2016 Atlanta Spartan Sprint. The terrain of that race consisted of some deep mud, 2 water crossings, some paved trail and some bushwacking. You know how sometimes in a race you find your self thinking, “I wish I had worn my (fill in the blank) shoes”. Not in this case, the shoes held up great on the terrain, all obstacles, and I always felt I’d made the right choice.
Reebok All-Terrain Super OR Durability
A major selling point is the drainage holes that have been a part of this line of Reebok since the Reebok All-Terrain Super (version 1). Running through water is a no brainer for shoes that drain as well as these do. What I was pleasantly surprised by was the ability for the shoes to 1. Not allow a lot of rocks in and 2. For everything to drain out. Usually after a few miles of running through dirt and rocks, I find lots “left over” in my shoes when I finish. I quickly hit a couple of puddles as I finished my run, and it knocked out what few rocks were left.
An empty shoe after a run is a happy shoe.

Reebok All-Terrain Super OR Conclusion
The biggest knock on previous years’ models was they began to break down structurally after a few races. Holes would quickly form on the uppers of the shoe. I am truly hoping that is not the case with the OR as these are currently my *favorite OCR shoe. As title sponsor for Spartan since 2013, Reebok have longed to be the leading OCR shoe. With this years Reebok All-Terrain Super OR, if they are can handle long term wear and tear, they may have finally succeeded.
***Update July 2016- After 200 miles, which included a half dozen obstacle races, the all too familiar “holes in the upper” finally began to appear. This is a massive improvement over the previous Reeboks, and may be as good as it’s going to get for a shoe this light, that drains this well.
*My previous favorite two shoes were the Zeal and the Inov8 X-Talon 190.
