Spartan Race purchased OCRWC from Adventurey in 2023. Spartan produced the event in Mammoth in 2023 and 2024. Earlier this year they announced that no event would be held in 2025, but that the event would most likley be on the east coast in 2026.
Today Spartan confirmed that the championship will in fact return in 2026, with Australia as the host country.
They also revealed a new name, OCR Community World Championships, and announced that registration will open on October 10.

OCR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS REBRANDS AS OCR COMMUNITY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AND ANNOUNCES
2026 EVENT IN AUSTRALIA
Celebrating community, innovation, and global growth as the Championships move to Australia in 2026.
Boston, MA – September 24, 2025 – The Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Championships today announced a
bold new chapter in its history. Effective immediately, the event will officially be known as the OCR Community
World Championships (OCRCWC), reflecting its founding mission of uniting athletes and OCR brands while putting
the global OCR community first. The 2026 Championships will mark the first time the OCR Community World
Championships will be staged in Australia, bringing the signature championship racing to new terrain in May 2026.
“We are so excited to host the enhanced community focus of the OCR Community World Championships. We have
a chance to bring a larger community to the sport across multiple event brands and raise the bar for community
engagement.
” Said Robert Camilleri, Director of Spartan Australia NZ & FIJI
Putting #AthletesFirst
The rebrand to OCR Community World Championships signals a return to core principles: fairness, inclusivity, and
global unity. In a time when division is common, OCRCWC reaffirms its role as a space where athletes, race
directors, volunteers, and fans come together in pursuit of shared goals.
Since 2014, the Championships have been designed to deliver innovative racing experiences, unite the OCR
community, and celebrate athletes of all levels, principles now reflected in our new name.
A Historic Move to Australia
The 2026 OCR Community World Championships will be hosted in Australia, bringing the event’s multi day format
competition to the region for the very first time.
While the OCRWC has previously hosted the popular Enduro race in Australia, this marks the first time the
Community World Championships will be staged there, giving athletes across the globe an opportunity to compete
on a new continent and experience the uniquely challenging terrain of Australia.
Registration & Race Distances
Registration for the 2026 OCR Community World Championships will open on October 10, 2025. Athletes will have
the opportunity to compete across four championship formats: 80M Sprint, 3KM, 6KM Team Relay, and the
signature 15KM Classic.
Elite athletes will be required to qualify, with designated opportunities offered worldwide, ensuring that the field
represents the best from around the world. Age Group and Journeyman categories will continue to provide
opportunities for athletes of all levels to take part in the sport’s most prestigious competition.“OCRCWC is a truly global event, and taking the Championships to Australia reflects our commitment to
representing and uniting the worldwide OCR community,
” said Matthew Brooke, Senior Vice President of Global
Operations at Spartan.
“This move is historic not only for the event, but for the sport as a whole.
