Jon Albon is the two time winner of OCRWC and an all around amazing athlete. He was won Sky Races, the 2014 Spartan Race World Championship, 2015 Worlds Toughest Mudder Team Championship and many more races in the UK and beyond. We followed up with him again this year to see what got him through the championship season. Here’s what he had to say:

spartan race discount

Top:  Craft Racing Top – It helps to protect skin when crawling/rolling and on rope traverse.

20151214200435Bottom: Skins compression shorts A200. Compression is reported to aid blood flow and therefore performance. They also keep everything in order if you know what I mean. These retain little water and fit well with no rubbing.
Skins over shorts. These cover unnecessary bulges in the undershorts and provide pckets for things like gels.

Feet:  Shoes – VJ Sport – Irock, These are by far the best terrain trainers around- everything about them is spot on.
SocksSkins Quarter Length Performance Socks, Retain little water and don’t rub etc.

Additional Gear: Buff/Wrag. Wore around my waist to provide somewhere to hold a 250ml flexible bottle of water.

Why He Wore Them: “The clothes I wore were the usual I wear for an obstacle course race. I wanted some water with me so I didn’t have to rely on water stops but considering how fast the course was this was mostly unnecessary.

I was insanely happy with 4th, at Spartan Race World Championships in Tahoe, considering how Spartan racing isn’t my preferred discipline in obstacle racing and the added disadvantage of competing at altitude.”
