Obstacle Racing Magazine has discovered that the man behind the money for Hobie Call’s new racing venture, Extreme Nation, may very well be millionaire Richard Golden, of SEE Eyewear. Our research found that a Richard Golden of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan created Extreme Nation, L.L.C. on February 7 of this year.
The successful founder and CEO of SEE found great success in the ‘90s by becoming a pitchman for his own company branding “sexy specs” TV commercials which became a juggernaut in the Detroit area. The company now boasts 30 stores nationwide and was recently acquired by a large Italian corporation.
Richard began his career as a salesman at age 12. He went door to door selling greeting cards before moving on to help a fledgling radio station grow massively in the 70s and 80s using unique sales strategies.
It seems as though Golden is aptly named. Can he apply all of this success to obstacle racing? We will know shortly as Extreme Nation has promised huge payouts of $150,000 for their first event, set to launch this summer.
When Extreme Nation (EN) front person Traci Martin was asked to confirm or deny this information, she said “it doesn’t matter who is behind this, only what EN does for OCR”
