It’s no secret that Joe DeSena, founder of Spartan Race, wants to see Obstacle Racing as an Olympic sport; and the International Obstacle Racing Federation (IORF) promotes the sport of Obstacle Racing and its related Sports and disciplines throughout the world, and leads the sport of Obstacle Racing, as recognized by the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee. The IORF consists of international experts with experience working in the International Olympic Committee, Olympic bids, international event production, sports law, Olympians and World Champion athletes. The IORF has made significant progress towards establishing the required 50 national federations for Obstacle Course Racing to be an internationally recognized sport.

So what does that mean?  On Friday, October 2, 2015, in Squaw Valley, CA, the IORF is holding a World Congress.  Spartan Race is hosting the event in conjunction with the 2015 Spartan World Championships.

What’s a World Congress? The IORF will  introduce its Executive Board, discuss Olympic strategy, and provide an overview of planned media and marketing.

ORM will be in attendance and will have all the details for inquiring minds. Stay tuned for updates.
