Say Goodbye To Lozilu Women’s Mud Run?

Lozilu cancels race

Last week, several women who registered for the New England Lozilu event reached out to Obstacle Racing Media to ask us the status of this women’s only obstacle race company.

There was an event scheduled this past weekend in New England at The Bolton Fairgrounds. After ignoring emails and posts on their Facebook page for several days (including from ORM), Lozilu emailed New England participants stating the race had been rescheduled for August 1st for “insurance reasons beyond the control of Lozilu”.

ORM spoke with Linda at The Bolton Fairgrounds, who told us Lozilu had reached out to her some time ago but that “the contract was never signed”. We then clarified the question to include last weekend or this upcoming weekend (August 1st), and she told us “Nothing has happened, because there was nothing to go forward on”.

Failing to secure a venue is behavior exhibited earlier this year by another failed OCR, Atlas Race. For those that are not aware, Atlas Race waited until 48 hours before canceling their Dallas, Texas event, all the while still collecting funds on that and future events. Atlas eventually went quietly away, canceling all future events, without refunding participants or paying athletes thousands that were owed.

Lozilu Cancel

One of several disappointed customer postings to the Lozilu Facebook wall.

It appears Lozilu may be headed down the same path. The standard for getting refunds in the OCR industry has been to contact your bank/credit card company.  We recommend doing this if you are concerned about any future Lozilu events.

  1. are we getting our money back if the race is canceled? i think some one should go to the bolton fairgrounds and let everyone come get there money. this is crap. We want our money back

  2. Jennifer. The venue can not help you. We highly doubt anyone from Lozilu will be anywhere near that location on Saturday. We suggest contacting your credit card/debit card company for a refund.

      1. Here is what we know about the recent locations on the Lozilu website.
        Chicago 5/9 -Cancelled
        Indianapolis 5/16 -Cancelled
        Milwaukee 6/27 -Cancelled
        New York 7/11 -Cancelled
New England 7/25 – Pushed to 8/1. Then cancelled. (Venue confirmed neither date was secured by Lozilu)
Nashville- 8/8 Venue informed us that this event was not secured by Lozilu for this year.
We have not heard back from the St. Louis venue as of yet, but there appears to be a trend here.

  3. I was so disappointed when I got the email that the Bolton Fairgrounds event was so poorly last minute “rescheduled” When I received the email I immediately responded to [email protected] requesting a refund. Thankfully he responded within 10 min and I just had to send my registration data ( I sent my receipt email from when I registered back in March) and received my refund the very next day. It looks like I am one of the lucky few because so many people have reached out having not received any info on a refund. I was really looking forward to the run and this just leaves such a bad taste in mouth for signing up for any events similar to this for fear it could happen again.

  4. This has just happened at the Lozilu event in Philadelphia this past weekend, “scheduled” for 8/1, while the truth was that the venue had never even been secured. This is a tragedy that a charitable institution has now become a complete scam. Needs to be shut down completely or taken over by someone with ethics!
