Mud, Guts, and Glory Truly Cares

Earlier this year, we at ORM were asked to attend Mud, Guts and Glory. A new race that promised tough competition, well-built obstacles, and an overall great time. Almost all new race series these days are met with skepticism because we have heard these promises time and time again. Sometimes new race directors back them up, sometimes they don’t, and sometimes, they drop off the face of the earth when they don’t get enough registrations.

With the first phone call with MGG, we were convinced that they had a shot at being a decent race. By the time we left their first event several weeks later, we had a great sense of hope for these guys and for the OCR industry as a whole.

One of things that made MGG stand out was their willingness to invest in getting athletes to their race. We were asked to help MGG choose solid men and women from the OCR industry that could help a) bring their event some visibility and b) give them open and honest feedback.

We are going to let those people that we invited tell the story of that weekend below.

What we will say is that we were blown away by the context of caring that Mud, Guts, and Glory put into their event. By providing travel, accommodations and meals to ORM and the other blogger athletes, MGG showed how they cared with their pocketbooks.

More importantly, they showed us how they cared through their hearts. That was evident with the quality of the obstacles, the challenge of the course, the staff’s willingness to listen, and the love, care, and commitment that we felt from every volunteer.

We highly recommend you check them out at their second event on November the 2nd, or at your first opportunity at a future date in 2014.
