Last weekend, Ryan Atkins came from behind to win the first ever “Toughest Mudder”. On today’s show, Ryan talks to Matt about how he did it, and covers some other random stuff you may find interesting.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for a great podcast- helps me get through my suck ass commute.
I know you guys cover A LOT of OCR events and it’s hard to keep up with all the athletes newer to the scene. But I just wanted to point out that Ryan Woods probably had a really really great chance of winning the Toughest. You kind of made comments that made him sound like a nobody and I think it’s unfair to really great competitors, like Woods when you completely discredit every other athlete than the typical favorites. Just try and expand the scope of those you promote as the top competitors- it will be better for the athletes and help give them the media push, and better for the credibility of the sport. Remember, we want guys like Ryan Woods to shift to OCR… we want to entice the worlds best runners to make that shift… for the sport to grow. I think haha.
We are fans of Ryan Woods. Have even had him on the show a couple of times. Hopefully, we can catch up with him for a longer review at Toughest – South in Atlanta in May.
Makes sense! Thanks for the reply Matt!
…He’s probably one of the favorites for the US OCR National Championship race (or whatever its called) in Miami… if he does it haha. It would be interesting to hear his take on it if he wins that one!
