The OCR World Championships released breaking news at 8:00am this morning. OCRWC is disqualifying a 2017 participant due to “violating anti-doping policy”. Ryan Woods becomes the first OCR competitor in history to be DQ’d at any obstacle race for this reason.
You can read the complete OCRWC article here which includes a response statement from Ryan Woods.
Ryan’s 3rd place, 15k finish is off the record books for OCRWC 2017. In addition, his team had won the OCRWC Sunday team relay. That team of Woods, Ryan Atkins and Hunter McIntyre, is now also disqualified.
We got a hold of both of Ryan’s teammates as soon as possible.
Ryan Atkins told us:
There aren’t many people I’ve met who have been as genuine, nice and just generally “good” as Ryan Woods. I believe he made an honest mistake and hope he remains as a competitor in the sport.
We reached Hunter McIntyre via text who said:
I like Ryan for his personality, not his body. Also Ryan and I shared a bed after Tougher Mudder Championship. It was a very pleasant experience.
The podcast below is an in-depth conversation with Ryan Woods recorded just a few hours ago. Adrian Bijanada, head of OCRWC, also made himself available to answer a few questions. You can hear those conversations by clicking on the podcast link below.
**Update – I also reached out to both Spartan Race and Tough Mudder to find out if this affects any past results or future participation for Mr. Woods. Neither were able to comment on the record at this time.

Limited research suggests that DHEA might improve vaginal dryness in postmenopausal women.
There’s a big list of everyday things we take that is on that list such as caffeine!!! I was so worried at OCRWC about drinking to many cups of my Cuban coffee because I was afraid I would go over the recommended daily dosage !!! True
Let’s remember it was a vitamin sold at Walgreens not Testosterone or any other performance enhancing drug that he had taken .. This guy is the real thing , I find it hard to believe that he would enter into a weekend still taking a banned substance by the daily recommended dosage and know that he could be drug tested ….. doesn’t make sense !!!!!
He’s a great athlete, I think he deserves a break ….
What Vitamin?
Matt your awsome great job
