Episode 113 – Mark Jones

Mark Jones

Mark Jones did the 2nd ever Spartan Race in Brooklyn NY, back in 2010. His performance got him free entry into Summer Death Race. He finished, but swore he would never do it again. Find out how his path brought him back to Pittsfield again and again until he finally moved there in 2013. We also talk about he trains to not just finish, but win, The Death Race, World’s Toughest Mudder and Joe Decker’s Suck and Ultimate Suck. The only thing Mark hasn’t finished is the grueling GORUCK Selection. We talk about what went wrong in previous attempts, and how he plans to finish the next time around.

Show Notes:

Short video of Spartan Race. Brooklyn, NY. August 2010.

*Editor’s note- There is a little confusion as the Athlinks stats list Mark Jones in 3rd place. In the above video clip, that is Mark Jones being given a medal as the announcer says “the male winner was Mark Valentino”.  Mark Jones says they told him at the time that he won and invited him to Pittsfield for the Summer Death Race. Perhaps Mr. Valentino did a later heat?
