Once upon a time, the elite contenders were the only athletes entitled to cash and prizes at World’s Toughest. Tough Mudder have widened the category to allow everyone who stands on the start line to be eligible.

Here are a few of the women we’re watching closely as strong contenders for the podium at next weekend’s 2024 World’s Toughest Mudder.

With the top three finishers from 2024 sitting out this year, the highest-ranked returning competitor is South Africa’s Nikki Caromba, who also won Europe’s Toughest Mudder back in late July.

Next up is Jenny Stipp (formerly Overstreet). A forgotten timing chip cost her 2nd place in 2022, and she’s looking to avenge last year’s 80 mile, 5th place performance. She won Chicago’s Toughest Mudder this year, and finished the brutal Barkley Fall Classic a few weeks ago.

Sarah Tucker and Melissa Linden, two hybrid athletes who are up for almost any challenge, both cracked the top 10 in 2024 with 65 miles each.

Kelly Glynn’s race was cut short in 2022 and she is looking to make a run for the podium. She finished 2nd earlier this year at Tough Mudder Infinity in Colorado. (Not Racing)

Other women to keep an eye on for Top 20 and/or AG podium include Megan Beck, Deanna Brasz, Sue Harvey Brown, Juliana Estes, Beth Faria, Jillian Heller, Shannon Hunkin, Felicia Lopez, Sheridan Santinga, and Lisa Wawrzynowski.

A special shout-out to Corinne Kohlen, who has only missed one World’s Toughest Mudder. She placed 3rd among women in both 2011 and 2019. She’s come 11 of the 12 previous events as competitor or as a crew member — and she’ll be crewing again this year.

Here is the prize pool for the 2024 Women’s World’s Toughest Mudder Category.

1st Place – $5,000 – Winner Medal – ’25 Season Pass+
2nd Place – $2,500 – Winner Medal – ’25 Holy Grail Pass
3rd Place – $1,000 – Winner Medal – WTM ’25 Entry
