Best Ways to Raise Money For Charity While You’re Travelling

It is something that becomes a focus for many women, looking to raise money for their favourite charity and, hopefully, doing so with minimal disruption to their daily life if possible.

For me, this means I have to link my love of travel to charity, which is pretty simple to do- you just have to now how to do it and to believe in yourself! The best thing about this for me is that you get to see the world, while also doing good at the same time.

Why Raise Money For Charity?

There are tonnes of reasons why you may want to raise money for charity.

For me, it is that feel good factor that you get when you are able to send the money across and, of course, challenging myself to complete each task. Some of them are easier than others. For instance, my abseiling down a sheer rock face at Avon Gorge was a lot harder than it sounds. Then, there is the personal factor; I lost my mum to cancer and so, I want to take part in as many fundraisers as I can, whether they are abseiling or the Edinburgh Marathon 2025.

I raise funds for charity to help myself have fun doing crazy things, while also raising money for what I care about.

Online Fundraising

So, I’m a travel addict and one way I raise funds when travelling is to engage in online fundraising.

This is easy to do on charity platforms, or even fundraising sites like Go Fund Me, which can be advertised on social media. This is perfect, as it allows you to raise money engaging in whatever is happening where you are in the world, and is simple to link to the charity of your choice. For me, the best part is not having to collect signatures for sponsorship; that has always been somewhat embarrassing!

Charity Challenges and Walks

One of the best ways to travel is by foot and, when I have had the itch to travel, I have gone to places by foot (if I have been able to) and have taken part in charity challenges and walks on the way, or when I reach the destination. This is great for exercise, for sight seeing and it can be done with friends and family too.

Travel Blog

Now, as you can see, I am not shy about my travel blog. Wherever I go and whatever I do, it gets documented on my blog! I am also not ashamed to state that I have, in the past, used affiliate links in my blog to raise money for the charities that I care about.

This is usually done via Amazon, but you can opt for other sites if you want to. That way, if you were to mention an item that you used in your travels, such as a bag, or a set of binoculars for sightseeing, you can link them. Rather than the money going to you, it goes to the charity. This is simple and allows you to talk about your travel experiences at the same time.
